“The publication of the Taufiq Ismail’s bilingual poem antology Debu Atas Debu in Arabic and English was highly welcomed by the Egypt’s Higher Cultural Council. The council plans to publish his Arabic poems in a sole edition in January 2014. The associate editor for Egypt’s edition is Prof. Dr.Rahim Kurdi of the University of Suez Canal, Ismailiya, Mesir.”The launching of Taufiq Ismail’s bilingual anthology of poems ‘Dust on Dust’ in Jakarta, Wednesday, 18/12/2013. “In April 2013, I was invited to Ismailiya and Cairo to read my poems. The Egyptian men of letters gave warmth responses,” Taufiq Ismail said. The Arabic translation entitled Turab Fawqa Turab with 111 poems and 514 pages was done by Prof. Dr. Nabilah Abdul Fattah Lubis of the Jakarta’s State Islamic Unviversity Syarif Hidayatullah, while the English translation by Prof. Dr. Amin Sweeney, emeritus professor in Malay-Indonesian literary of the University of California, Berkeley, US. Prof. Sweeney passed away on 13 October 2010 when he was writing a preface for the anthology at the age of 72. The English version entitled Dust on Dust is consisted in three volumes with 816 poems in 1.619 pages and in bilingual format too. Besides that his poems will also be translated to Bosnian language with title Prah Na Zrnu Praha by Prof. Dr. Farid Muhic dan Dr Edin Hadzlic, and will be launched in Sarajevo next Juni 2014.
