New Indonesian film on haj pilgrimage: ‘Haji Backpacker’

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID – After successful with film La Tahzan, the Falcon Pictures production house again raised with similar themes. This time it presents a more interesting story and a larger scale in the production of a film titled Haji Backpacker (Backpacking Haj).

Haji Backpacker tells the story of a figure of Mada (Abimana Aryasatya), which is being broken heart. Due to his anger to the fact, he then decided to be a backpacker and live freely. In fact, he also left the Lord, family and friends .

In the outside world that is free, Mada finds bodily happiness but feels spiritually empty. While the full fragility of this, the Lord’s hand to take him back through a series of events. Wandering from one country to another, reveal awareness to the awareness of Mada that God really loves and always keeping the rules perfectly .

“We’re trying to make an inspirational movie. Everytime we love a good story to the crew or the players, they were touched by their own way. So I think this movie deserves to be watched,” said Erika, the producer of the Falcon Pictures, to media conference in Jakarta, Monday (14/4/14) afternoon.

Danial Rifki, the film director admits the film is not an easy matter. In fact he called ‘Haji Backpacker’ is the greatest movie. “From all sides, ranging from the difficulty of film making, technique, shooting, animation composite until the fighting,” said Danial.

In line with the title, the film will follow the journey of the main character to nine countries, namely Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, India, Tibet, Nepal, Iran, and Saudi Arabia.

However, Danial Rifki acknowledged that many people thought the film tells the story of someone who performing Haj pilgrimage at low cost. But he said, “Haji Backpacker” tells about one’s spiritual journey. In this case the character of Mada, played by Abimana Aryasatya.

“The film is not technically on the pilgrimage by way of backpack, but a bacpacker who rediscovered his enlightment during his journey,” he said.

Danial explained, the figure of Mada (Abimana Aryasatya) is told came from a devout of Muslim family in Surabaya. But there is one point that makes Mada angry with God and try to forget his faith. He then decides everything and traveling (Backpack) to Thailand .

There Mada increasingly falls into the darkness of life. However, despite Mada tried to forget religion, the God’s hand took him hand back through a series of events leading to the spot of enlighment.

“The series of enlightment events he got during his journeys to a number of countries,” Danial said.

Besides Abimana Aryasatya, the movie starring such renowned artists, Dewi Sandra, Laudya Cynthia Bella Laura Basuki, Pipik Dian Irawati (Late Ustadz Uje’s wife), Ray Sahetapy, Dion Wiyoko, and Kenes Andari.

The film will be released in conjunction with the Idul Adha Celebration in early October 2014.
