New mosque as a landmark for Brunei International Airport

Quratul-Ain Bandial

CONSTRUCTION of Brunei International Airport’s new prayer hall begins after the Minister of Communications officiated at the foundation-laying ceremony today.

Situated right next to the arrivals hall, the $3.2 million structure will be able to accommodate at least 300 worshippers.

Designed by P.A.Y Architects, the prayer hall will feature elements of Islamic and Bruneian architecture.

The hall will be constructed on a raised platform so it will be visible to both departing and arriving passengers.

Slated for completion in November 2014, the prayer hall is part of the ongoing airport modernization project
