RESPECTFULLY, this is a rather complex article to write. The subject matter is inter-related, a net-work of the cycle of violences and retributions between Muslims in the Middle East, and the Zionist violent apartheid practices on the Palestinian population and their lands since 1948. This naturally has direct and indirect actions and reactions in the convoluted history of the Middle East, in particular now with the seemingly sudden appearance of a new enemy of Islam, the so called “ISIS forces”.
It is vital to state from the beginning herein that “ISIS forces” are the new “Iblis-Syaitan forces” which also use the peaceful religion of Islam to execute their barbaric, violent personal vendetta against another human beings, their religious relics and economic assets.
This new Iblis-Syaitan (IS) forces are in fact the Devil and the evil which have intensified the Western Islamophobia. To the extent that this Islamophobia has spread into our Brunei Darussalam shores in the form of those noises attacks, instigitated by those Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender (LGBT) and the so called human rights activists, against our Syariah Law, against our monarch and against the investment assets of MIB Brunei Darussalam’s Sovereign Wealth Fund.
The comparative evidence between the noises and the threats of legal actions against the MIB Brunei Darussalam Sovereign Wealth Investments in Los Angeles, and against the recently reported negotiations of new purchases of hotels in USA and in London is the deafening silence of these activists against the recent atrocities of the Zionist military might on the people of Gaza and on the destruction of their socio-religious-economic-medical assets between August and September 2014. As a brief background on why I dared to write this complex article is the personal belief that, after what was apparently a staged fear of the heralded impending costly global computer software crash at the dawn of the 2000 millennium, the world would be a cooperative, prosperous, peaceful world. Thankfully, the staged fear, which cost billions of US$ for the computer owners and users to prevent the feared software crashes, had not occurred.
The burgeoning cyber-net-power would facilitate the speed of growth of trade and commerce, thus spurring a new global village economic growth , prosperity and peace. Hence, the entire humanity would live happily ever after.
But alas, as it turned out, it was just self-indulgence of nirvana of dreams I had dreamt of.
As it turned out, beginning with the earth-shaking terrifying acts of terrorism in Sept 11, 2001 in New York, the first two decades of the 2000 millennium proved to be times of endless nightmares. Nightmares of blood-splattered, bone-splintered, life extinguishing cycle of violence and retribution. Now we are facing the new enemy of Islam in the form of marauding evil-devil IS forces.
We human beings naturally can only hope for the best — the best expectations, the best results, against the unknown odds.
The odds tragically have been fomenting in the Islamic world in the Middle East, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt. Now, the terrifying sudden appearance of violent anti-Islam-“IS” devils and evils. Iblis Syaitan forces. Certainly it was not a case of forgetting what the Divine Advice constantly remind us that only Allah (SWT) Knows and Decides the future for us, the world.
The following surah and verses of the Noble Quran are apt here:
“Say, I cannot benefit or harm for myself except as Allah Pleases. And had I known the unseen I should have much good, and no evil would touch me. I am but a warner and the giver of news to a people who believe.” (Al-A’raf or The Heights 7: Verse 188)
“Surely the knowledge of the Hour is with Allah (alone). He who sends down the rains, and He knows what is in the wombs. And no one knows in what land he will die. Surely Allah is Knowing, Aware.” (Luqman 31: Verse 34)
Thus, ever mindful of these Divine Reminders, what the 2000 millennium would bring to humanity, the world, up to Sept 2014 wasjust facts of history. Certainly, no body, not even the best, powerful, well-equipped Intelligence agencies, or spies of those advanced, powerful countries could predict what ominous omens would ensue from the invasion of Kuwait by the sadistic dictator Saddam Hussein’s forces in 1991. Almost 10 years before the terrifying assaults on the heart of the US on Sept 11, 2001.
Admittedly, Saddam Hussein made a terrible calculation in his invasion of Kuwait. But the consequent grave statistics were as follows, as per what is mentioned in this book Whose Land? Whose Promise? — What Christians Are Not Being Told About Israel and the Palestinians by Gary M Burge:
A laser-guided bomb ploughed directly in a bomb shelter and incinerated hundreds of Iraqi children and women taking shelter there;
Report after war described that US carpet bombing of the front with B-52s may have ended over 100,000 Iraqi lives;
About 115,000 Iraqi soldiers died; after the ceasefire, civilian unrest and war-related ailments killed almost 120,000 civilians;
immediately following the war, masses of Iraqi children (about 500 per day under the age of five) were still dying from the war’s delayed effects (Ref: C Scriven: “Second Thought About the War” (1992)).
The Western strict embargo on Iraq resulted from 1991 till 1998 over 500,000 Iraqi children under the age of five died needlessly according to UNICEF. Over 1.2 million people have died because of medical shortages or effect of malnutrition. This led to the resignation of Denis Halliday in Oct 1998. He was Humanitarian Coordinator. He remarked: “We are in the process of destroying an entire society. Very terrifying. It is illegal and immoral.”
In February 2000 (just two months after the dawn of the 2000 millennium), Hans von Sponek, the second UN Humanitarian Coordinator, likewise resigned. He commented: “How long should the innocent civilian population be exposed to such punishment for something they have never done.”
What the Western world and public conveniently gloss over is this algebra of violent actions and violent reactions, concealed hatred and vengeance bred by the massive bombing of Iraq, the consequent deaths and economic destruction, the belligerent feelings of Saddam Hussein’s supporters on his hanging.
Like a thunder bolt, the heinous crimes of September 11, 2001 struck the heart of New York. This dramatically had intensified Western Islamophobia, and the deliberate distortions in the Western media against anything Islam, everything Muslim. What Denis Halliday and Han von Sponek openly asserted about the illegality, the immorality and the inflicted sufferings of hundred thousands of innocent Iraqis by the carpet bombings of Iraq and the eight years embargo had intensified the equation of hatred and the cycle of violent actions and violent reactions from both sides.
In the words of Gary M Burge, “those destructions of lives, economic assets have led us to overlooked some devastating facts about our faith (Christian faith), the Middle East, and what God would have us do. In some cases, we have not been told things, important things (due to the power of fact-distortions of the Western media, and the secrecy of Western governments), about life as it really is in the Middle East.
This situation is even truer today, as our government contemplates further military action against Iraq (in 2003). In a day of increasing militarism, many of us are deeply disturbed”. (NB Gary Burge expressed this concern in 2002!)
